James Jack

JAMES JACK is a Crown Prince Akihito Scholar for 2008-2010, and is currently living in Tokyo, Japan. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. degree in Studio Art, Jack has been awarded grants from the Annie Wong Foundation and the Fulbright Program. He has been artist resident at Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, China, Vermont Studio Center, Anderson Arts Ranch in Colorado, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology in Oregon, and Kamiyama AIR in Kamiyama, Japan. He has given presentations at the European Association for Japanese Studies in Italy, University of California, Santa Cruz, and the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jack has had two solo exhibitions at TAMA Gallery, and a two-person show with Nguyen Minh Thanh in 2006-2007. His work has recently appeared in Kyoto Journal and Asian Art News. Jack’s paintings are in private and gallery collections in the U.S., Japan, and Europe.
